Description:This is one of the most under rated runs in all of Idaho. I can't believe the number of long time paddlers in this region who have never seen the Upper St Joe. This is the funnest class III - IV play run I know of. Crystal clear waters, hugh cedar trees, beautiful river bed and almost no people all make it a world class treasure. From Conrad Crossing Campground to Bluff Creek Pack Bridge, it's non-stop river running and play. The entire run is road side so scout if you are unsure. The canyon does get pretty narrow in spots so it's a good idea to check for logs before a run. The St Joe. can get a little rainy so come prepared. Enjoy!!!
Location:The St Joe runs along the St Joe River Road upstream of St Maries Idaho. Conrad Crossing is located just downstream of the junction of the St Joe River Road and Gold Creek Road which is good access from St Regis Montana. Gold Creek Pass and Moon Pass are often snowed in till mid May so the only reliable early season access is from St Maries.
