Description:The V-Wave really needs no introductions. It is probably one of the most photographed play spots in the world. The water is clear and cold, scenery beautiful and the play is world class. 100 yards up stream is the famous Kootenai Falls, below that at several great play holes and finally the mighty V-Wave. At almost any level it's surfable, however higher levels are pretty exciting as you might expect. A word of caution, this is "BIG WATER" play and the power and speed of the river is very deceiving. This spot is NOT for beginner/intermediate paddlers and all paddlers should have a bomb-proof roll and nerves of steel! The two mile class IV run below the falls is well worth the effort.
Location:The V-Wave is located 120 miles North East of Coeur d'Alene Idaho via I-90 and US Hwy 2. Half-way between Troy and Libby Montana you will find the runs take-out at mile marker 20. Turn off US Hwy 2 at mile marker 22 and follow the railroad grade downstream to find the put-in.
