North Fork St Joe |
River: | North Fork St Joe River | City: | Avery, Idaho | Gradient: | Medium | Season: | March - June | Volume: | 500 - 1500 cfs | Grade: | III | Type: | Creek | Length: | 9 miles | Time: | 3 - 5 hours | Shuttle: | 9 miles, Good Dirt Road | Description: | The North Fork of the St Joe runs along in a mostly undefined boulder bed of class III water. Through the course of the run, expect to encounter 3 - 4 rapids of interest. One is a drop called "NO SWEAT" and is a sharp right turn congested with larger granite boulders at the top and broken ledges at the bottom. The other drops are
read-on-the-run and are just ledge drops and 90 degree airplane turns. Always keep a sharp eye out for logs especially at higher water levels. |
